Eligibility:
open to any designer or architect in practice for ten years or less, as
well as design students. The $10,000 prize is intended to support designers
whose entries reflect considerations of inclusive design, systems thinking,
sustainability, materials exploration, progressive technologies, function, and
provocative form. Each design should speak to at least one or several of the 6
sub-disciplines of design supported by the magazine—architecture, urban
planning, landscape design, interior design, product design, and graphic
design. Interdisciplinary collaborations are encouraged. Employees of Sponsors
are not eligible. All entrants agree to be bound by the Official Rules.

challenging you to develop solutions that empower, advance, and include groups
often overlooked in the design process (including but not limited to, our
rapidly increasing aging population and citizens with disabilities). The form
is up to you; consider how tech-savvy people are becoming and what devices,
materials, and modes of transportation will stay relevant 20 years from now. Keep
in mind what other groups will benefit from the design.
We know that 1.13
billion people is hard to wrap your head around. So we ask you to think of your
mom, your dad, your uncle or aunt, your friend, your kid brother or sister,

City of York Council
have launched a competition seeking nationally and internationally renowned
architects to submit their design proposals which clearly demonstrate potential
future uses for York’s historic Guildhall and riverside complex.
Registered architects
are invited to develop their ideas for the Guildhall, the associated office
accommodation, river frontage and boat yard, as part of an ‘Open Ideas’
competition, run by The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
Entries will be sought
from architects putting forward innovative ideas on how the potential of the
Guildhall site and riverside could be maximised for the benefit of the city and
its residents.

Arts Center Cincinnati is a call for architectural proposals of a membership
based facility that will feature private residences, maker-in-residence
studios, light industrial studios and a community workshop that will help shape
a new economic opportunity for the city of Cincinnati. The proposed facility
will offer access to a variety of industrial machines and tools for use by
artists, designers, engineers or any other constituent to aid in the production
of goods and crafts. Design ideas should embrace the neighborhood’s history of
innovation and civic engagement in order to inspire the next generation to
develop innovative ways of making that will impact the city’s future. This
competition will provide an opportunity to showcase contemporary architectural
solutions that embodies a modern means of living and making while existing
within a dense 19th centu! ry fabric.
